Minn and Jake

Wong, Janet S. Minn and Jake. Illus. Genevieve Cote. New York, NY: Frances Foster Books, 2003.

I’ve only read through the assigned pages (through page 74), but I can already see how this is a book that young readers can connect with. Being a taller child (who always befriended my smaller classmates), I can relate to Minn …I look forward to reading the rest.

How cool that you mention this, Jeff, about relating to a character. That's one of the ways to get kids to get into books when they normally wouldn't: that identification with one aspect or another in the story.

Cape,
During my life, I have been on the opposite side on the height scale. I usually was one of the shorter males in any group or organization, but I never let it bother me. Luckily, I had a chance to be a "big man" during my elementary school years. I actually was the third tallest student at that time. For some reason, I never grew anymore after the sixth grade!
